Thanks to its high R&D expenditures and innovation-oriented approach in 2023, ASELSAN ranked at the top of the sector with its success in R&D projects, R&D personnel employment and national patent applications, and became an important export-oriented player that strengthens the technology production capacity of the Turkish industry.

According to the “R&D 250, Turkey's Companies with the Highest R&D Expenditures” survey prepared by Turkishtime and announced in 2024, ASELSAN was the second company with the highest R&D expenditures in 2023.

According to the survey, ASELSAN is the leader in the “Top 100 According to the Number of Projects Conducted at the R&D Center” ranking with its innovative and technologically pioneering projects. ASELSAN ranked fourth in the “Top 50 According to the Number of Trademarks Acquired in R&D Centers” list with its number of trademarks, demonstrating the importance it attaches to branding.

ASELSAN topped the list of “Top 50 According to the Number of National Patents Obtained at the R&D Center” with the number of definitive patents registered with the TURKPATENT. In addition, ASELSAN also made it to the “Top 50 by the Number of Design Registrations Received at the R&D Center” list with the number of registrations it received. In addition, ASELSAN ranked third in the “Top 50 According to the Number of Utility Models Received at the R&D Center” with its utility models.

According to the results of the same survey, ASELSAN was also the champion in the “Top 100 According to the Total Number of Personnel Working in R&D Centers” category with the number of personnel employed at its R&D Centers, and drew attention with its qualified and expert employee profile in the field of R&D. ASELSAN also ranked at the top of the “Top 50 by the Number of Female Personnel Working in R&D Centers” list with the number of female personnel employed in R&D centers and the “Top 50 by the Number of Postgraduate and Doctorate Personnel Working in R&D Centers” list with the number of postgraduate expert employees.

ASELSAN is a Leader in Innovation!

The InovaLIG competition, which is carried out in cooperation with the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) and IMP3rove, an international innovation management consultancy firm, has a globally recognized format for Innovation Management Assessment. For this reason, the competition has become an important and reference competition in Turkey in terms of observing whether innovation management activities bring sustainable success or not.

Since InovaLIG has a guiding format for the measurement of innovation management, ASELSAN applied to the competition in 2023 and achieved success in all stages of the competition and won first place in the second category of InovaLIG, “Innovation Organization and Culture”. The 2023 Innovation Champion award was presented by our President Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN to our General Manager Ahmet AKYOL on behalf of ASELSAN.

Subsequently, in order to be able to observe the work carried out, the gains obtained from innovation activities within and outside the company, and the sustainable success, and to evaluate the concrete outputs of these steps taken, the relevant competition was reapplied in 2024 and the success was carried even further and ASELSAN was ranked first in the fourth category, “Innovation Resources”. ASELSAN's Innovation Champion award was presented by Dr. Cevdet YILMAZ, Vice President of the Republic of Turkey, to Ahmet AKYOL, our General Manager, on behalf of ASELSAN.
