ASELSAN
continues the successful test firings of its cutting-edge technologies and
products, continuing its assertion in the field of air defense.
In
August, Baykar’s AKINCI UCAV hit its target with full accuracy with the TOLUN ammunition developed by ASELSAN
in the firing test. AKINCI detected the target using the ASELFLIR-500 electro-optical reconnaissance and surveillance
system, also developed by ASELSAN during the firing tests.
In
another firing test in September, ASELSAN’s GNSS/INS/IIR guided gliding all up
round ready munition system TOLUN IIR, integrated on Baykar’s AKINCI hit its
target from an altitude of 22,000 feet at a distance of 20 kilometers with its
imaging infrared guidance (IIR).
TOLUN
IIR, which was developed and manufactured domestically by ASELSAN, is an
air-launched and precision-glide weapon that uses deployable wings to achieve
standoff range. It is designed to provide increased weapons load per aircraft
and reduce collateral damage while achieving kills across a broad range of
target sets by precise accuracy, small warhead design, and focused warhead
effects.
This has been the latest example of the union of
forces that creates deterrent and effective technologies by Turkish defense
industry.
