The first test of TOLUN, an advanced precision-guided munition developed by ASELSAN, was successfully conducted within GÖKTAN system, demonstrating its newly integrated ground-to-ground engagement capability. The test was carried out on February 18th in Sinop, in northern Türkiye.
ASELSAN, Türkiye’s leading defense company, conducted the first firing test of TOLUN integrated with a rocket engine, enabling long-range ground-based engagements. Originally designed for air-to-ground missions, TOLUN has now been successfully adapted for ground-launched operations, reinforcing Türkiye’s advancements in guided munition capabilities.
Developed under ASELSAN’s leadership in collaboration with DELTA-V, GÖKTAN System enhances precision engagement through integrated command-and-control and fire control systems. This test validated the adaptation of TOLUN to a ground-launched configuration, expanding its operational flexibility.
During the test, after separating from the rocket motor, TOLUN deployed its wings, transitioning into guided flight before striking its designated target with high precision. GÖKTAN System enables 360-degree firing capability, allowing engagement of critical targets without platform maneuvering. The system also supports waypoint-defined targeting, independent and centralized operation modes, multi-target engagement, and sequential firing, ensuring effectiveness in dynamic combat environments.
This milestone marks a major step in Türkiye’s efforts to develop platform-independent precision strike solutions, further strengthening its defense industry’s ability to deliver cutting-edge, indigenous technologies for modern battlefield operations.
ASELSAN President & CEO Ahmet Akyol emphasized the significance of this achievement, stating: “We have reached a key milestone in equipping TOLUN with ground-launch capability. As we continue to develop force-multiplier systems, this advancement enhances Türkiye’s precision-strike capabilities and expands its operational flexibility.”
