ASELSAN has made a significant leap in the annual “TOP 100 Defence Companies List” of Defense News climbing to 42nd position in this year, up from 47th in the last year’s list with its defense revenue of nearly 3 billion USD with almost 30% growth in 2023. The company’s total turnover reached 3.2 billion USD, where defense accounts for 94% of the total.
The
company's remarkable progress is attributed to its development of cutting-edge solutions
and export performance. In 2023, ASELSAN secured new export contracts worth 601
million USD, expanding its global footprint to 88 countries and total backlog
of the company to 11.1 billion USD.
With
a strategic focus on export-oriented growth in frame of its aselsaneXt2030 vision, ASELSAN aims to
be among the Top 30 in the Defense News Top 100 by 2030.
September was a remarkable month, standing out with new international export contracts for ASELSAN. The company announced that it signed export contracts with a total value of 44.4 Million USD with its clients in Asia-Pacific region. The contracts were signed to supply payloads consisting of remote-controlled weapon system for use on land platforms and to supply remote-controlled weapon system, radar, inertial navigation, friend or foe recognition systems and electronic warfare suite for use on naval platforms.
The second set of agreements signed in September were also regarding the supply of payloads for the naval platforms. ASELSAN signed export contracts with a total value of 26.2 Million USD with its customers in Asia and the Pacific regions for the sale of payloads for naval platforms including radar, remote-controlled weapon, friend-or-foe recognition, submarine torpedo countermeasure, electro-optical, firing location detection systems and electronic warfare suites.
ASELSAN has officially opened a new regional office in Skopje, in the capital city of North Macedonia, as part of its global expansion strategy.
ASELSAN, has been active in North Macedonia since 2014 and is now elevating its presence in Balkans with the new office in Skopje. The opening ceremony, marking a significant step in ASELSAN's global expansion, was attended by Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, Secretary of Defence Industries of Türkiye, and Ahmet Akyol, ASELSAN President & CEO.
Establishing a regional office in Skopje, which holds a central position as a gateway to both Western and Eastern European markets, will facilitate ASELSAN’s access to Balkans, increasing its collaborations in the region.
ASELSAN continues the successful test firings of its cutting-edge technologies and products, continuing its assertion in the field of air defense.
In August, Baykar’s AKINCI UCAV hit its target with full accuracy with the TOLUN ammunition developed by ASELSAN in the firing test. AKINCI detected the target using the ASELFLIR-500 electro-optical reconnaissance and surveillance system, also developed by ASELSAN during the firing tests.
In another firing test in September, ASELSAN’s GNSS/INS/IIR guided gliding all up round ready munition system TOLUN IIR, integrated on Baykar’s AKINCI hit its target from an altitude of 22,000 feet at a distance of 20 kilometers with its imaging infrared guidance (IIR).
TOLUN IIR, which was developed and manufactured domestically by ASELSAN, is an air-launched and precision-glide weapon that uses deployable wings to achieve standoff range. It is designed to provide increased weapons load per aircraft and reduce collateral damage while achieving kills across a broad range of target sets by precise accuracy, small warhead design, and focused warhead effects.
This has been the latest example of the union of forces that creates deterrent and effective technologies by Turkish defense industry.
ASELSAN has announced its financial results for the first half of 2024. Revenues reached 35.7 billion TL with an 8% growth rate, while net profit grew by 133%, reaching 3.6 billion TL. The new contracts worth 2.6 billion USD brought total backlog of the company to 12.3 billion USD.
ASELSAN, maintained its solid growth and recorded an extraordinary financial performance for the first half of 2024 reporting 8.7 billion TL EBITDA with a 9% growth. The new contracts signed reached 2.6 billion USD (365 million USD of that is international), bringing the company’s total backlog to 12.3 billion USD.

Successful test of SİPER Product-2 System, a long-range and high-altitude deterrent force, attracted attention in the global defense industry and international media. In the firing test carried out at Sinop Test Center, system capabilities were tested using the Fire Control Center, Data Link, Missile Launching System and SİPER Product-2 missile.
SİPER, ASELSAN’s long-range air defense system, provides effective long-range and high-altitude defense, strengthening Türkiye’s goal of fully protecting the country's borders with domestically developed systems.
ASELSAN President & CEO Ahmet Akyol commented on the successful test: “SİPER Product-2 system is being prepared to enter the inventory of our Armed Forces as the highest shield of our national air defense. I congratulate all our engineers who contributed to this successful firing test. We will continue to work day and night to move our air defense to higher altitudes and longer ranges.”
Within the scope of the SİPER Project, it is aimed to complete the acceptance activities of the SİPER Product-1 System and add it to the inventory at the end of this year. SİPER Air Defense System has the ability to operate with 8 FFS, each of which can fire 6 missiles.
ASELSAN President & CEO Ahmet Akyol announced that new agreements have been signed with Indonesia in line with ASELSAN's growth objectives for 2030, centered on expanding its global reach.
During an official visit to Indonesia led by the Turkish Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB), strategic agreements related to defense industry transfers were signed, which represents a significant step for reinforcing ASELSAN’s presence in the Asia-Pacific region.
In frame of the agreements, the two countries have formalized strategic deals involving the use of ASELSAN’s Remote-Controlled Stabilized Weapon System SARP, 4D Search Radar CENK, Naval Gun Fire Control System, Air Defence Missile Fire Control System (FCS) and Missile Data Link by Indonesia.
ASELSAN participated in the Asian Defense and Security Exhibition (ADAS) held in the Philippines between 25-27 September. At the fair, ASELSAN’s electronic warfare, air defense and surface platform systems were at the forefront. ASELSAN President & CEO Ahmet Akyol and ASELSAN staff informed the visitors of the booth about products and systems on display during the exhibition held in Manila, the capital of the Philippines.
ASELSAN's communication systems and solutions, naval systems including GÖKDENİZ, electronic warfare solutions, air defense systems including KORKUT and HİSAR, payloads and guidance kits such as TOLUN, ASELFLIR-400 and LGK, and border/facility security systems were among the products showcased at ADAS.
High-level delegations and visitors from various countries participating in the fair, including the Chief of Staff of the Philippines, force commanders and senior officials of the Ministry of Defense, were informed about the ASELSAN systems exhibited and fruitful discussions were held.
Cutting-edge ASELSAN products and systems were showcased at the Africa Aerospace and Defense (AAD) Exhibition held in South Africa between 18 - 22 September. At the exhibition, ASELSAN's state-of-the-art products and systems attracted great attention from the visitors.
On the first day of the exhibition, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and other high-level delegations visited our stand within the scope of AAD. The South African president, the minister of defense, the chief of general staff and other high-level officials were informed about the ASELSAN systems on display.
ASELSAN's products and systems, including border security solutions, UAV prevention systems, critical facility security systems, avionic modernization solutions and communication systems, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) payloads, guided munitions and guidance kits were on display at the exhibition.
ASELSAN has become the center of attention at Azerbaijan Defense Exhibition (ADEX) in Baku with the critical agreements it signed, including the sale of ASELFLIR-500 and TOLUN. On the first day of the exhibition, ASELSAN hosted President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at its booth and introduced the unique features of ASELFLIR-500 Electro-Optical Reconnaissance, Surveillance and Targeting System, which stands out with its superior performance in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). The capabilities of ASELFLIR-500 were displayed with a live demonstration for the first time at an international exhibition.
On the sideline of the exhibition, ASELSAN signed agreements on communication and information security systems with the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense; as well as Memoranda of Understanding on electronic warfare with National Aerospace Agency of the Ministry of Defense Industry (MAKA) and on joint production of ASELSAN Smart Munitions in Azerbaijan with the Scientific Research Institution of the Ministry of Defense Industry (ETI). The sale of ASELFLIR-500 and TOLUN, integrated on AKINCI, was also realized based on the agreements signed during ADEX 2024.
